Bits in the mail

So I got a package in the mail containing the legs and hip section for the plastic Khador Warjack. This means I can now finish up my Kodiak which has been sitting for about a week and a half. First step will be to get the mold lines and flash. I know part of the appeal of Warmachine was the metal jacks but honestly I like the size and sculpts of the resin models PP has released. I may borrow a friends drill press and drill in some 1/8th holes and magnetize the torso to the legs. Work will also continue on the Doom Reavers in the meantime.

Primer - The Frist Step

Why a blog? Motivation. I know if I just left myself to my own motivation I would slowly start finding excuses not to paint my stuff. I'd end up being one of those mini gamers that plays with bare metal/plastic or just primed minis. That bugs me because I keep wondering if the guy across from me is just playing his flavor of the month and will be selling the army on Ebay next week. I know people are like me tho. Jobs, friends, the usual time sinks so I try not to judge. Now I am not one of these guys who can paint studio quality. I am a hack at painting. I've never been great and my technique sucks. I try to get something good enough to show some effort but don't sweat small mistakes. It's not great but far better then bare metal/plastic or primer.

This blog is going to be half of my battle plan to keep myself motivated to paint. My other motivation is going to be buy one unit at a time, paint it, buy the next one. Keep the focus tight and don't let it wander because the next thing it will wander too is the PS3 or the PC. I am also going to try and post pictures with each post to document my progress.

Photos for the short term will suck. My camera sucks and that is that. I will do my best to get the best images possible so should you read this blog you can comment and hopefully offer wisdom or ridicule at will.

Post 1. Primer - Just finished priming the rest of my Doom Reavers and the UA Grey Lord Escort. I am also including the one model I used to color test and see if I could find a color layout I liked. I may try dark Grey on the kilts rather then the dark green I used on the first one. I used Army Painter White Primer for all the models including the test figure. As far as colors go I am using a combination of P3, GW, and Reaper Pro. Reds and Greens are Reaper. Metallics are GW. All the other colors are P3 as far as I remember. For the washes I used P3 Red Ink and GW Devlan Mud. The base on the painted one is just beach sand (free!) and some Army Painter flock.
